Roughnecks Stay Perfect, Defeat Bombers 20–8 in Week 2

The North Louisiana Football Alliance’s Week 2 action featured a strong showing from the Roughnecks, who improved to 2–0 on the season with a 20–8 victory over the Bombers. With the win, the Roughnecks now stand as the league’s only undefeated team early in the 2026 campaign.

Despite being without starting quarterback Ethan Ortiz, the Roughnecks didn’t miss a beat. Versatile playmaker Matthew Brothers stepped in under center and helped guide an efficient, run-heavy offensive attack. Brothers contributed on the ground, alongside Brandon Washington and Travis Cain Jr., who each found the end zone for rushing touchdowns. Tederrion Jacobs-Hudson added to the scoring with a successful two-point reception.

Special teams proved to be a major factor in the Roughnecks’ success. Return specialist Antonio Moore delivered a standout performance, racking up nearly 100 return yards and consistently setting up favorable field position.

Defensively, the Roughnecks were just as sharp. Led by defensive back Antonio Walker, the unit held the Bombers to just eight points and limited their scoring opportunities throughout the game.

On the other side, Bombers quarterback Zackery Lipscomb put together a solid performance through the air, finishing with nearly 200 passing yards and a touchdown. His top targets, Javerra Taylor and Isaah Gardner, accounted for the bulk of the offense with several key receptions and big-play moments.

In the end, the Roughnecks’ balanced attack, strong field position, and disciplined defense proved too much to overcome, as they continue to set the pace in the NLFA heading into Week 3.
